Astronomy Day - Trailside

Astronomy Day at Trailside.  This event will take place today beginning at 1pm - 5pm with presentations on astronomy suitable for the entire family with children's activities.  The day's events continue with an evening presentation at 8pm on the night sky, followed by observing through Amateur Astronomers, Inc. (AAI), telescopes and binoculars until 10:30pm.  Pre-registration recommended, walk-ins welcome.  For additional information visit:  www.asterism.org (click Events).

Weekly Solar Watches

Join the Amateur Astronomers, Inc. (AAI) & members from the William Miller Sperry Observatory for Weekly solar Watches at Trailside.

Beginning Saturday, April, 7, 2012 at 1pm and continuing every Saturday throughout the summer (weather permitting).  Ray Shapp of the AAI will conduct weekly solar viewing sessions with the use of a Hydrogen-Alpha telescope and a white light projection box.  The solar observing sessions will involve a discussion on the safety issues of looking at the Sun.  Sessions will last approximately one hour.
