Join Us Today For Patch to School

Cranford Patch will welcome community members to meet and talk with our staff during a Patch to School backpack drive and distribution today.

Members of the comunity are invited to join the Cranford Patch staff to help ensure that local children have the supplies they'll need to have a successful school year.

On Tuesday, Cranford Patch will host Patch to School events at Hillside and Orange Avenue Schools. This special event gives residents the chance to meet the Patch team and deliver school supplies to help needy children. This event will help Patch connect with community members and gives them the chance to ask questions, suggest story ideas and share insight.

Patch to School will begin just before 8 a.m. at Orange Avenue School, prior to the start of classes. Another session will take place at 2 p.m. at Hillside Avenue School.

Want to get involved? It’s simple — these students need backpacks, pencils, erasers, glue sticks, markers, crayons, notebooks, binders, pencil cases, safety scissors, rulers and loose-leaf paper — and they need a helping hand. So bring what you can, no donation is too small. And if you really want to get involved, feel free to stick around at either of the schools and help us pack the backpacks. Children in and around Cranford may have lost school supplies when their homes flooded during Hurricane Irene. This is the community's chance to help them out by donating supplies.

If you need supplies for your child, you can also pick them up during our morning or afternoon Patch to School event.

Can’t join us tomorrow, but still want to help? Contact a Patch staff member and we’ll pick up the items you’ve collected. All items will be donated to children whose families may be struggling to afford these basic supplies. To be part of this event, simply show up at either Orange Avenue School in the morning, or Hillside Avenue School in the afternoon, or for more information, contact Cranford Patch Editor Toniann Antonelli at toniann.antonelli@patch.com, or at
908-380-1403.
