Student Achievement: Cranford Residents Acknowledged For Academic Excellence

The following is an update on some of the accomplishments of Cranford High School graduates and residents of the township.

In press releases from many colleges, we have learned of local students who have recently graduated or received honors:

  • Michael Baglieri of Cranford  has been named to the dean’s list at James Madison University for the spring 2012 semester. 
  • Sarah Victoria Barry of Cranford has been named to Clemson University Dean's List for the spring 2012 semester.  To be named to the Dean's List, a student achieved a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Lindsay Preucil of Cranford,  graduated Cum Laude from Gettysburg College on May 20, 2012.  Preucil majored in Psychology.
  • Alexa Salcito of Cranford, graduated magna cum laude from Lafayette and earned a bachelor of arts degree in government law on May 19.
  • Jacqueline Hertz, of Cranford has been names to the Spring 2012 Dean's List at Washington College.
  • Joyce Kechner, of Cranford, graduatds from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree on May 21.
  • Hannah Brechka of Cranford, earned a B.A. degree summa cum laude with honors in biology at Skidmore's 101st commencement in May.   n addition, she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the national honor society that exists to encourage and recognize outstanding individual achievements in liberal education . She also received the Dowd-Lester Award, awarded to a senior biology major in recognition of outstanding work.  She is the daughter of Alan Brechka of Cranford.  During her Skidmore career Brechka was elected to the Skidmore Periclean Honors Forum, which recognizes academic achievement and promotes intellectual and creative activity as well as citizenship and civic engagement.
  • Ryan Monahan and Christine Shanahan, both of Cranford, have been named to the Dean’s List at Lafaytte College for the 2012 Spring semester.
  • Sara Dankosky of Cranford a Junior at the University of Delaware made the Dean’s List for Spring 2012 in the Department of Education & Human Development.
  • Melissa Anne Caparruva and Andrew Joseph Obergfell of Cranford have received Bachelor of Arts degrees from Drew University.
  • Bailey Cardinal, Nicole Molle and William VanWhy, all residents of Cranford, received Bachelor of Arts degrees from Fairfield University's College of Arts and Sciences.
  • Michele Altebrando of Cranford has been named to its Dean's List for Spring 2012 from the University of Hartford.
  • Kaitlin Goode of Cranford was awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science in Accounting, at Sacred Heart University's Annual Commencement on May 12th and 13th
  • Joyce Kechner a resident of Cranford, was among more than 1,900 students from Wake Forest University who made the Spring 2012 Dean's List.
  • Kelly Laukaitis, Catherine Uhle, and Rita Uhle all of Cranford have been named to the Honor’s List at Fairleigh Dickinson University, College of Florham.
  • Matthew Heinle and Gerald Yotcoski of Cranford have been named to the Dean’s List for the 2012 Spring semester at Fairleigh Dickinson University, College at Florham.
  • Angela Loffa and Michael Ozolnieks of Cranford, are members of the Class of 2012 and Angela majored in Business Administration - Marketing Concentration while Michael majored in Digital Media.
  • Michael Cohen, Sara Dankosky, Kaitlyn Lazaro and Megan Papandrea all of Cranford have been named to the University of Delaware’s Dean’s List for the Spring 2012 semester.
  • Cathleen Martin of Cranford graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Stonehill College.
  • Christopher McNerney and Natalie Allcock of Cranford have graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus.
  • Judith Sukovich, Marissa Torres, Alexander Nappi and Cheryl Roberts of Cranford have all graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham.
  • Dmitry Gridin of Cranford earned an Associate in Science degree, with Honors, in Computer Information Systems from Essex County College. Griden received the degree during the College’s 43rd Commencement on May 23 at the Prudential Center in Newark.
