Maria Sikoutris Di Iorio, MA, Ed.S., LPC is a licensed professional counselor and marriage and family therapist, graduate of Seton Hall University with a Post Master&#39;s as an Educational Specialist and Master&#39;s in Marriage and Family Therapy. <br><br>Ms. Sikoutris-DiIorio has been counseling with individuals, families and couples for over seventeen years. She is a member of the National Council of Self Esteem, New Jersey Counseling Association and Marriage and Family Therapy Association. She has been certified in Behavioral Systems Theory from the Multicultural Family Institute studying under the direction of Dr. Monica McGoldrick and a team of professionals. Currently, Ms. Sikoutris-Di Iorio is working with The Georgetown Family Center in Washington, DC., and The Princeton Family Center, Princeton, NJ coaching on a weekly basis and participating in their training programs for further study and supervision in Bowen Family Systems Theory. Ms. Sikoutris-Di Iorio has also taught at the Rutgers School of Social Work. <br><br>Ms. Sikoutris-DiIorio’s private practice in Scotch Plains is available to clients day, evening and weekend hours. In addition, she has been treating individuals, families and children in The Mount Carmel Guild Behavioral Health Care System intensive out-patient department in Newark, New Jersey. She has extensive experience in working with individuals with addictions and has over four years of experience counseling halfway house prisoners in Talbot Hall and Delaney Hall correctional centers. Ms. Sikoutris-Di Iorio specializes in working with couples dealing with issues of conflict and specializes in marriage and family therapy. She has been helping couples improve communication, resolve conflict and deal with issues of infidelity. Oftentimes she will meet with the entire family if necessary in order to assess the role of each family member and will make the proper recommendations.<br><br>In addition, Ms. Sikoutris-DiIorio has presented numerous workshops for the Elizabeth Court House on parents experiencing divorce (protecting the children), parenting workshops, and building self esteem. Ms. Sikoutris DiIorio has extensive experience working with the Juvenile Conference Committee and was Court Appointed Advocate for Union County interacting with Division of Youth and Family Services, Catholic Charities and foster care.<br><br>She is the past Owner and Director of The Westfield Diet Plan. A program that believes it’s not what you are eating, but rather what is eating you. She focuses on building women’s self esteem and self image and counsels on food addictions/eating disorders.<br><br>As a group facilitator, she has delivered programs such as: self esteem, assertiveness, stress management, 12 step programs, addictions and recovery, parenting workshops, anger management, improving communication, resolving conflicts and infidelity. She has also appeared as a guest speaker on Comcast Television promoting women’s self esteem issues.
